Does it drain battery?
Only the leader (King) broadcasts location in the background. Everyone else just receives updates — minimal battery impact. We use 10-second intervals to balance accuracy with battery life.
Do I need an account?
Nope. Open the app and go. No signup, no email, no passwords. We use anonymous device authentication so you can start tracking your group in seconds.
How many people per group?
Up to 50 per party. Plenty for even the biggest ski crews, family reunions, or organized trips.
Does it work without cell service?
You need some data connection for location updates. However, ski resorts typically have decent coverage, and the app works with minimal bandwidth. We recommend having at least basic mobile data.
How accurate is the arrow?
The arrow uses your phone's compass and GPS. On modern phones, it's accurate within a few degrees. Location updates happen every 10 seconds, so you'll always know the general direction.
Can anyone become the King?
Yes! Anyone in the party can claim the King role at any time. Claiming King automatically demotes the current leader. It's designed to be flexible — pass the crown when you need to.
What's the Jäger button?
It's a fun way to say "let's meet up!" Tap it to send a sound notification and your location to everyone in the group. Perfect for lunch breaks or après-ski gatherings.
Is my location data private?
Your location is only shared with people in your party. We don't sell data or track you outside the app. When you leave a party, your location data is removed.
Does it work for other activities?
Absolutely! While designed for skiing, King of Ski works great for hiking, festivals, theme parks — anywhere you need to keep a group together.
